i have good news and i have...

bad news. the good news is that i am back among the living and feeling better, my appetite has increased and i find myself constantly starving and foraging for food all day. work is busy and i am booked halfway into next month already...which is worth mentioning as i have a plan to take a week off for spring yard work in april and i guess i'd better make my move if that is to be a plan that comes to fruition.  i have not knit a stitch or a row on my lunch hour since i returned to work so the chevron scarf which i expected to be done with is still on the needles. the truth is it could be done and maybe it should be done but i still have more yarn left and so what's the harm in having a really long scarf?  i am still working on montego bay but the beigeness of it finally got to me and i had to have a break to do something else.  i fear 28thirty will be on snooze now that spring is here and her woolyness is not of much interest to me.  i have started the soy cardi out of jaeger albany and this yarn is sooo nice.

it is a cotton tape and i love the feel of it and the dusty rose color is also very nice is a neutral sort of way...one may not think of pink as neutral but it truly is if you have reds in your skin tones like i do. at this point the sleeves are on stitch holders and i have joined the body in the round and have only and inch or so done so wearing it is very revealing unless i give you a peek at it from this boob armpit angle so i shall as i have not blogged or picture took in a week now!  i am picturing this with tiny little crystal ball buttons. the top inch of this is a bit wonky because i think i was still delirious when i started it but it's cotton and i'm hoping the stitches will even out when i wash it...or not! i had my eyes examined today and dilated for a pressure check so i can hardly stand to look through these big old pupils...my eyes...my eyes...so i shall cut this short and bid you good night...for now!  ooh and i almost forgot the bad news and this is killing me...i got a post card and my favorite lys...bonnie knits is going out of business!  i am so sad and so shocked but i am being optomistic and am hoping that bonnie just wants to retire and travel the world!  needles to say i will be shopping for yarn at the sale!  needles to say!  later...love   g

i am on a steady diet of aspirin...

to quell the crushing headache left behind from all the drama of 12 hours of steady night time uncontrollable vomiting followed closely by 12 hours of practically being in a comatose state waking only for a few minutes here or there to see that i was still among the earthlings followed by another 12 hours of sleepImg_8619_2  while under the influence of a throbbing pain in my head followed by 12 hours of nothing by mouth but water as even jello and gatorade caused more vomiting and finally the next 12 hours of fitfull sleep containing wierd dreams and leaving me exhausted and feverish and chilled for the next 12 hours which was friday when the headache was relieved finally by aspirin every four hours but only after i was able to injest solid food if you can call soup and jello and toast solid food...which i don't.  the headache now remains but is complicated by a loud ringing in my ears and a deep throbbing secondary headache from taking the aspirin which has never been my friend but this morning i am back on the coffee and hopefully things should be getting back to normal soon...one can have dreams.  at least my relation ship with the toilet bowl has improved.  in the meantime of course no knitting was done to speak of, no picture taking, no spc and no work.Img_8618_2   poor dr ruth had to see all of my scheduled appointments on wednesday and thursday for which i feel really bad but i tried to make up for it my doing her...official lingo coming...ea apps...told you it was official...on friday which were some doozies i might add so at least now i am not so indebted to her and i will not have to bake her a cake which would sicken me i'm sure but might make her quite happy but then on the other hand a granola bar or a hostess ho ho would do the job too  which is so wierd as she is someone who makes her own jelly rolls!   not me i buy mine at the store. any way have a nice weekend and see you all next week which can't  be anything but brighter considering the current situation which is that it is snowing for god's sake one day before easter!  how will the children frolic in the grass?  it is snowing on my snowdrops!  i guess that's whay the name snow drops huh?  adieu...adios...auf wiedersehen...arivaderchi...love   g

come sing me la...

come sing me montego bay...oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh. told you i'd have that song stuck in my head for some time.

Img_8599

this is one quick knit though so it shouldn't be stuck for too long.  this is about 20 inches of montego bay and the grand total will be 80 inches so...not bad for a few days television knitting.  easy to knit easy to memorize so sing me la!

the more i look at this the more i think mom and the more i think mom the more i think mothers day. this silk and cotton lacey scarf in the taupey tan is right up her alley and it is a nice little summer scarf for those air conditioned evenings. i was going to get her a hose!  i'll probably still get her a hose and she can wear this while watering her flowers and humming come sing me la!

Img_8590

i've been thinking i'd start one of the cropped sweaters i had my eye on out of yarn i had in my stash but sadly upon second look at the patterns and the yardage i don't think i'll have enough of the lilac, rose and blue esprit in my stash  to make the souvenir hoody nor do i have enough of the blues and the brown calmer which may be just perfect for that summer cropped hoody so now i am sad and i am back to the drawing board. i think i'm sticking to my plan to use the albany in rose to make the soy cardi although for a moment there i almost changed my mind after i got this months issue of vogue knitting...there are some mighty cute things in this issue and it'll be hard not to knit one of them so get out your vogue knitting and dream a little.  later...love   g

forget every bad thing i ever said..

about my clapotis. everything i said may have been true...but i'm over it. clapotis and i have been out on several dates together in the last few days and our relationship is renewed and it is refreshed and we are once again in love just as we were the first time i laid eyes on her...back when i only had like twenty stitches on the needles.

Clapotis_love

this is the kind of scarf that grows on you even if you didn't like it in the first place. it rolls and hugs your neck and is about as cozy as a scarf can be.  i misted mine with water and semi blocked it because i border on perfectionism and it was a little too rolly polly out of controlly to be within my comfort zone and the more you wrap it around and bunch it about your neck the more it's little waves return again and well...all that is left too do is declare my love for her.

Clap_in_the_handss

do make yourself one and i promise you'll love her too! just be sure to make it out of a comfy soft and not itchey at all yarn and if that yarn is smooth as a baby's bottom it will be so easy peasy to unravel the stitches.  i highly recommend this misrasol hacho...i highly recommend that you alternate skeins if the colors get too wonky and wierd too.  i have no plans to make another as she and i have reconciled and resolved our differences so our date at divorce court has been cancelled and besides i am monogamous and only need one clapotis because i want to wear her everyday and no other!

Clap_bench

i would make another though...i am fickle...if i found some other lovely multi yarn that i just had to have but i swear to you i would alternate skeins and the yarn would have to be more of a summery fiber to interest me at this point as this clapotis is merino and the season of wool is hopefully coming to a close.  as it is i am planning a phiaro which is also a dropped stitch scarf and i am planning to make it out of soy so it will be a spring scarf. now to pick a color and what color should she be and any bets on whether or not i will alternate skeins this time???  if you bet no...i'm with you! hmmm.  later...love   g

montego bay...

i'll be singing this tune for a while.

Montego_bay

this is montego bay scarf from ik summer 2007.  there are quite a few  lovely patterns in this issue which i have been reminded of since i started this scarf.  the yarn is of course my bargain one dollar a skein yarn from bonnies knits jaeger trinity. a nice combination.  later...love   g
