don't call me...

jacques cousteau yet...but our first underwater video has been posted to you tube and can be seen by clicking the title octopus garden on my sidebar...or click here!!!  i'd like to be ah ah under the sea...later...love   g

the fix is in...

the armpit fix that is.

Elinor fixed

the armholes on this elinor tunic were too tight for me in the original finished pics i took so i ripped the ribbing out and cast on the stitches again in the main color then i immediately...in the very next row...cast off in the trim color and this modification allows for a little more room under there and a much better fit.

 Elinor armpits

i don't know how i ended up in the pickle i was in but it probably had something to do with the size modifications i made.  ah well if i were to do this again i'd make the straps narrower...much narrower...to allow for adding ribbing and maintaining the look of the straps in the pattern but still keeping those armholes wide open!!!

Elinor beads

in the meantime i thought i'd post some daylight pics since i'm still not knitting anything new.  i will say this though...i like the fit of this now.  it is comfortable and i will be wearing it  but probably not until september...see you in september!!!  la la la later...love   g

you may wonder how long it is ...

and i wonder the same thing.

 IMG_9889

it is long i know that...long enough to wrap around my neck a few times and still hang long in the front but i have not measured it.  i washed the chevron scarf  and dryed it in the sun.

Chevron front and back

this is superwash wool and it is soft as could be but blocking doesn't do much for it so it will probably roll and fold in on itself and i guess i will let it. this is of course from last minute knitted gifts but it is really not a last minute knit at all as you can guess. i started this when it was snowing and finished it after memorial day!

IMG_9909

not so last minute but the good thing is that all that time i spent with it has allowed me to grow accustomed to the bright colors of this...i also find myself liking the reverse side and i like the way each end curves in a different direction...

Chevron short

i might have known that was going to happen but i didn't and it was a surprise to me.  shibui sock yarn two different colors of course and size 4 needles!  i may like this after all or it may go in with the others in the great winter scarf giveaway coming this winter!  later...love   g

i managed to finish this up...

before the weekend so i'd have something to take pictures of even though i am not knitting anything these days until i can bend my finger...which is feeling less stiff every day knock on wood!!!  this is a hat made for the original guy from noro iro.

Noro 1

i used less than a skein...way less and may have enough left for another hat this size or a bit smaller..a kid hat perhaps.  this pattern is based loosely on kim's hats from last minute knitted gifts.  this yarn is bulky so i cast on 70 stitches for an adult hat rather than 80 for a womans and 88 for a mens hat as stated in the pattern.  i also used a size 8 needle for the brim and then switched to the recommended size 9 for the rest of the hat.  it is made shorter because he likes to wear his hats snug on his head and just down over his ears...and he has a shaved head so no hair to take up the slack.

Noro

to make it guy enough i cut out some of the purple leaving barely a single row and i think he maynow be more likely to wear this!!!  he also agrees he may find a use for some wool fingerless gloves in dark grey yay!  later...love   g

we have baby...

and it's an eight pound eleven ounce boy which is not what his big three year old brother was expecting and he's busy telling everyone he's got a baby sister...i feel an indentity crisis coming on!  if anyone knows of a really cute little boy knit i could sure use an idea...it has to be really cute to make up for that fact that i got nuttin...no ideas...not a one!  more later...love   g
