i missed a day of blogging and self ports on thursday. hmmm i didn't get very far into it before i lost momentum did i? the guy has been thinking about buying a boat and the deal finally came together so coincidentally yesterday we were on the road for the long haul...the long haul of the boat to it's first resting place before it floats for the season. that haul is not the haul to which i refer though. my haul was a little less expensive, a little more portable and i got some very nice bargains as well. not that the boat wasn't a nice bargain and it probably promises to be way more fun. i guess it is safe to say my haul came to me as a result of some obsessive shopping. i have been known to participate in obsessive shopping in my life but don't so much at all anymore. except this week. i can't say for certain why but i have my theories. last new years eve on the coldest night of the winter i shut my purse in the car door and one of the metal hooks that holds the strap on snapped. it was repaired by adding a cheap caribiner type thing and i forgot about it for a while but when i remembered i was on the hunt for a replacement. it had to be big. it had to have a zipper pocket on the outside for keys and a pocket on the outside for my cell phone too. sticker shock is what i got...i quickly discovered that a nice leather bag was gonna run me into the triple digits which was not where i wanted to go. sticker shock! i looked and looked and hunted and while on my journey to find the perfect bag i ended up with a very large embossed tote that i love but not as a purse. i ended up with a lovely appliqued bag that is a collectors item which i may use as a purse on occasion but not everyday and quite frankly i never change my purse so my main purse needs to be tan or black or maybe even red. it has to be big too, i have become accustomed to roominess but it has to fold up and fit into the side bag of a motorcycle and into a desk drawer where it can be locked up most days. that's lot to hope for on the bargain table.
my haul: a pair of gladiator sandals, two knit dresses, leather tote, a car charger for my cell, two pair of linen pants one in teal and one in michele's new fav color a dusty rose from anthropologie, snaps for one of the pair of pants, a black leather bag with zippers, pockets chrome and buckles oh my and last but not least two grateful dead bandannas one red and one black and a t shirt with the dancing bears that may not have been a bargain but hey i got all that for less than i could have spent on a purse alone!!! in motion these days. later...love g
I don't change purses, either. I can't be bothered. I am always on the lookout for the perfect purse. I like the one I have now but I know it won't last forever and I like to have a backup. Gone are the days when I used a little tiny purse!

I'm like you. I carry a big purse for years until it falls apart. Then I look for a replacement. I'm going on year 4 for my current purse. I do tend to spend a fair amount on them but I usually get them new on Ebay for a lot less than retail! My purse is like my office. I can't be bothered with changing it!

my humble opinion - that purse was worth every penny.
