d is for...

dog. sorry i couldn't be more creative than that but i can't.

Dogs

i took the dogs out in the back forty after work today to run and play in the snow but it was not so much fun.  the snow was wet and slippery and it was raining really hard and after the german mustered all the energy he could and charged at miss husky she lept in the air they both sniffed something and then the german led the way into the house where it was warm and dry and there was food.  the end.  i'm hoping to finsh my lady eleanor this weekend but i don't anticipate starting anything else or at least anything exciting so happy friday and happy weekend.  later...love   g

c is for...

cut it! cut it! cut it off!

Haircut_2_3

dr ruth got sick and tired of my yak yak yaking about my hair my hair my hair and to make matters worse both of my wonderful hairstylists were no where to be found and believe me i turned over every stone looking so i was really whining it up.

Cut_7128_3

today was the day! she made the appointment for me, met me there...she and nancy were sitting around waiting for me and my hair to walk into the shop and then she sat and held my pony tail while i was under the knife. it was all over in 15 minutes!

Haircut_3

since i couldn't find who i was looking for...oh where oh where are you sissy manno and or tom little...i made a second choice deciding on a layered bob rather than the spikey choppy red streaked doo in my first vision of myself.  this is an easier transition to make especially since i never sat under nancy's knife before.

Hair_cut_1

i'm not saying i might not go there some day (to the spikey choppy red streaked shorter doo) but for now this seems like a good transition haircut. the ponytail i had amputated is disappointingly short...i thought i had way more hair than this but it's done...too late to whine about that.

Pony_tail1_7

i like the back of this cut so much! i love the way it looks but am crazy about the way it feels!  my mom will be so happy she'll think it's her birthday...i think i'll just pop in on her and surprise her!  the guy says i look like i did when we met...ahh the good ol days when i was only a young 50 years old!

Lady_e_2

while i'm at it this is lady eleanor in progress.  i have two more skeins to go then i will cut the fringe and finish whatever yarn is left.  looks like soon i'll have a finished lady e to show and i'll be starting my third.  later and i wish you all many good hair days...love   g

b is for...

the bearded lady.  i missed posting when it was the week of the letter a so this is a joint post combining the letter a and the letter b and as  a matter of fact those two letters are combined for me this month anyway. a is for adnovirus. b is for bearded dragon.

i got a call last night from the zoo vet who tells me the beaded lady has adnovirus. she is already being treated with antibiotics at this time and has been doing better so i hoped that was all she needed but it seems she is now one of the growing numbers of bearded dragons with adnovirus.  there is no cure for adnovirus in reptiles.  it is a virus it that affects the liver and the immune system.  she will more than likely have a need for antibiotics on a regular basis and possibly she will need treatment with interferon if the antobiotics don't keep her well. i have been told that will be a last step in this process as it is an expensive therapy.  i'm into calculating these days and i wonder how expensive is defined in this case.  the anti biotics are about 3.50 for a 2-4 week supply so that is a mere 12 cents a day.  i can deal with that.  of course add to that the vet bill and the price goes up but we're talking meds only here.  even if the interferon is say $50.00  that is less than $2.00 a day which is quite steep but also acceptable but if it is more i just don't think it is a realistic option.  before i go any furthur with this line of thinking and calculating one day...one thing...one problem at a time.  i've done only a bit of research and this is a new development in the reptile community and not a lot is known about the disease in reptiles but it is thought to be fatal. some dragons appear to thrive in spite of adnovirus but for how long i don't know nor do i know how this will affect her life span.  i have to say i didn't want a bearded dragon for a pet but i have her and i care for her and i have taken responsibility for her and i won't like to see her suffer if that is what is to be.  the way i see it this is a result of irresponsibility on the part of breeders and pet stores.  there is a test for adnovirus and i had paid for this test but it is expensive and pet stores do not test for it before they sell the bearded dragons.  if they did they would most likley not profit from their sale.  responsible breeders have started to test for it as it is a growing problem but that is too late for us.  i will notify the pet store with the hope that they will choose to be responsible in the future and buy from breeders with a policy of testing for this disease.  i wish i could say i have been included in the abc along for 2008 but i was too late to join but i do participate in the abc along group on ravelry which you are already on ravelry check out the ravelry abc along group.
