i ended my work in the yard on saturday morning...

running the electric hedge trimmer over the tip of my left thumb. first there was pain. then there was blood. then there was a feeling of being stupid.  still feeling stupid and pissed because i have ruined any chance i had of finding my knitting mojo in the near future. man!   then last night i typed this whole post complete with pics and hit the save button but typepad had other ideas and deleted it so i had nothing this morning but space to start a new post. grr...believe me although i have no proof it was funny.  to continue with the i'm having a terrible no good very bad day theme...the the cord from my knit pics options knitting needle bit the dust for good. the cord  pulled all the way out of the join and refuses to go back in so that i can superglue it.  it's going too have to be replaced. i can't have this. those options are pretty much the only thing i use to knit with any more and it puts a cramp in my already cramped style to have one out of commission.  to be honest though it is as good a time as any for this to have happened as all of my options cords sit un-used in their respective pouches waiting for some mojo or inspiration to come calling.  for some balance so no one can say i am not an optomist as heart which i do not believe i am but anyway...the dragon lady put an end to her hunger strike yesterday and relished the crickets i put in her cage and then she was seen happily munching on kale and carrots and strawberries. today she ate up her worms first thing.  she seems to love the new souce of sunlight in her glass house and as evidence has gotten quite a nice tan on her.  i got quite a lot accomplished yesterday before the unfortunate hedge trimmer incident and since the weather gods gave us high winds i decided to hang a load of bedsheets on the line to dry which they did in record time! the sun finally came out so i sat myself down on the lounge chair on the deck and frogged the black and blue cardi which has become nothing more than balls of wound black and blue cotton.

back to square one.  myself and my siblings are all meeting at my mothers for a mothers day celebration.  this wil be the first time we have all been in the same room for some time.  the guys will be grilling steaks and we gals will be cooking crab legs and grated potatoes and asparagas and washing strawberries.  i didn't cook last night so that was my official day off and quite frankly i will probably not be doing a lot of cooking today but i can set the table and i can boil the water for the crabs legs but sadly i cannot do the dishes.  mmmm...also i cannot wait for this feast!  happy mothers day to all. later...love   g

i'm afraid it's all over sweeties...

i can no longer pretend to finish the black and blue cardi.  i can no longer justify spending any more of my brain power in anxst over it's problems and issues. it's over. we're through. the decision has been made all that's left is the ripping and frogging. this cardi is just too big, not by a huge amount but still it is too big.  it is too wide in the neckline and because of the heaviness of the yarn will pull...downward...hard and i won't love it and i want to love it like i love a favorite sweat shirt.  the only place the thing is really sized correctly is from the elbows down so out with all those stitches.  i've tried many different solutions to the sleeve problem and the bottom line is that there were just to many stitches to start out with in the sleeve section and while i'm at it i don't like the neckline  as much as i could or as much as i like the front band where i added the applied i cord so it's a sad day but...the future looks bright.  much like today.  if you look skyward the first thing you notice is the gray and the gray is especially overwhelmingly gloomy today and it feels so damp that i would swear i just washed my hair and put my clothes on right out of the washing machine still damp and i did neither but the birds are singing and the forecast has some sun in there some where so i'll go on about my day optomistically and tonight i'll rip out the cardigan formerly known as and to be known again one day as...black and blue which is what my forehead looks like after an unfortunate floor mopping accident! no one ever said i was graceful.

i should knit a hat or something or maybe just hang around until something inspires me.  for now i'm going to play in the dirt.  later...love  g
